DESCRIPTION:The course equips participants with the skills needed to be full or part-time PIOs\, including oral and written communications; understanding and working with the media; and basic tools and techniques to perform effectively as a PIO\, both in the proactive/ advocacy times and crisis/emergency response. \nCOURSE OBJECTIVES INCLUDE\n• Indicating the purpose of and develop a public awareness campaign\n• Developing an incident communications strategy\n• Applying effective news release writing guidance\n• Adapting written media products for social media\n• Identifying interview elements a PIO should consider\n• Demonstrating effecitive techniques for on-camera interviews \nAUDIENCE\nThis course is intended for newly appointed emergency managers from Federal\, state\, local\, tribal territorial and emergency management agencies.

SUMMARY:PER-340: Active Threat Integrated Response Course
DESCRIPTION:This course is designed to improve integration between law enforcement\, fire\, and emergency medical services (EMS) in active shooter events. The course provides law enforcement officers with key medical skills based on tactical emergency casualty care (TECC) guidelines that can be used at the point of injury (POI) to increase survivability of victims. The course also provides a model framework for law enforcement\, fire\, and EMS to integrate responses during an active shooter event through the rescue task force concept. \nThe target audience for t​his course includes: \n\nLaw enforcement officers\nFire service personnel\nEMS personnel\nDispatchers\n\n  \nThe course is designed to accommodate 25 law enforcement officers and 15 fire or EMS providers.​
